As the meadowlarks sing their familiar tunes and the lilac trees reach their full bloom, festival season is about to begin at the Lyric Theatre and around Swift Current.

On Saturday, June 3, the Lyric presents its annual Pride dance, including drag performances and live music.
The all-ages show concludes a week of events celebrating the LGBTQ community presented by Southwest Saskatchewan Pride, May 29-23.
To celebrate the beginning of Swift Current’s Market Square, the Lyric presents the kick-off party on Friday, June 9 under the Market Square tent.
The event features kebab barbecue, gourmet pizza and live music with Dustin and Jess, Kill the Lights and Belle Plaine.
On the following weekend, the Lyric provides a special theatrical offering: Love Loss and What I Wore. In partnership with the Grandmothers & Grandmothers for Change, the play is based on the 1995 book by Ilene Beckerman.
Around the city, cherished and familiar events will return. The Long Day’s Night Music festival runs June 22- 25 and coincides with the SaskPower Windscape Kite Festival on June 24 and 25.
Then the 79th Annual Frontier Days Fair and CCA Rodeo takes place June 28 to July 1. An estimated 25,000 visitors converged on the first Frontier Days in 1938 and it will no doubt attract another huge crowd again this year.
The excitement continues at the Lyric Theatre for the Chautauqua Performing Arts Festival, July 6-8. This is our 10th Chautauqua featuring four fantastic productions: No Way Out, Half Hour Hamlet, The Pink Unicorn and Pigs in a Canoe and Other Water Stories.
In celebration of Canada 150, the Southwest Newcomer Welcome Centre delivers Southwest CultureFest, a series of Saturday events, starting  July 15 and running until Sept. 9.
Every two weeks at the Lyric, the Welcome Centre will feature cultural displays in the afternoon, followed by evening concerts with acclaimed international performers.
