Dominique Liboiron

Dominique Liboiron is a speaker, author, teacher, journalist and photographer. To raise awareness about heart disease and to honour the life of one of its victims, Liboiron canoed from Saskatchewan to New Orleans. He is the first person to undertake that journey. He enjoys outdoor sports such as camping, hunting, fly fishing and canoeing.

Euphoric. That’s how Dale Sanders, 82, described the sensation he felt when he completed his 2,200 mile or 3,540 kilometre hike of the Appalachian Trail. Dale began his journey in January and reached the end Oct. 26.

Adventure has drawn young men to the West for decades.

Man canoeing 7,000 kms to say Happy Birthday

Mike Ranta is a modern-day voyageur. The 45-year-old retired oil field worker is canoeing 7,000 kms across Canada to mark the nation’s 150th anniversary.

“Kids these days can’t do nothin’. I wonder what this world is coming to.”

I once asked a 100-year-old man his secret to living so long.

With an iron resolve and a smile on his bearded face, Dale Sanders continues his 2,000-mile hike of the Appalachian Trail.

Joe Stockinger grips the bar, adjusts his footing and lifts the weight with ease; an impressive feat for any 87-year-old. That’s right. He’s a senior and a weightlifter and a successful one at that. Stockinger holds several world records.

Most of us have secret interests. Fearing ridicule, we often try to hide this aspect of our personality.
