Creating community through rhythm and sound

GRADE FIVE/ 10 YEARS OLD: When I was in Grade 5,  I auditioned/tried-out for Band. Mr. Rogel was the band teacher. I tried the trumpet — thought I would burst my eardrums.

My house was built in 1910 and an archway of lilacs covers the front entryway. Every spring, the lilacs bloom and create a beautiful canopy over my front entrance and step. It is one of the things that attracted me to my home.

Have you ever heard the expression, that “to get things done you have to do it yourself?”

Three things I learned on my summer vacation

Prologue: For 14 days this summer I left Saskatchewan, closed The KIVA Studio, cancelled all my Joy Guru Sessions, and headed by car to British Columbia with my mom.

A true story. For the past seven days my mother and I have been travelling from Swift Current to British Columbia and soon heading back again.
